Tiberiu Soare

Conductor, Romania


Tiberiu Soare is a graduate of the National University of Music Bucharest, having studied under esteemed professors such as Ludovic Bacs, Petru Andriesei, and Horia Andreescu. In 2018, he earned his PhD in music, presenting the thesis "The Tragic Opera Oedipe by George Enescu, A Conductor's Perspective", under the supervision of Professor Dan Dediu. Since 2003, he has frequently collaborated with the National University of Music Bucharest's Faculty of Composition, Musicology, and Music Pedagogy, initially as an Associate Lecturer and later, from 2018 to 2023, as Associate Professor.

In May 2018, Romania’s Royal House awarded Tiberiu Soare the Order of the Crown of Romania in the Officer rank. Since 2007, he has been a permanent collaborator with the Calea Victoriei Foundation, where, as a lecturer, he has given numerous interactive musical conferences. These lectures have been compiled into two books: *Why Do We Go to the Opera?* (awarded at the 2014 Civil Society Gala) and *Nine Musical Stories* (2016).

In 2024, the Union of Music Critics of Romania honored him with an Excellence Award for his interpretation of George Enescu's tragic opera *Oedipe*. Tiberiu Soare has been an active conductor since 1999, collaborating with numerous philharmonic orchestras and opera houses. Since 2003, he has been the conductor of the Avant-Garde Music Ensemble "Profil".

In 2007, he contributed to the establishment of the Ludovic Spiess Experimental Opera and Ballet Studio, initiating the work of this division of the Bucharest National Opera as Coordinator. Over the years, he has held several leadership positions within the Bucharest National Opera, including Interim General Manager (2016), Deputy General Manager (2018), and Artistic Director (2021). Between 2012 and 2015, he was the Principal Conductor of the Radio Romania Orchestras and Choirs, and from 2020 to 2024, he held the position of Principal Conductor of the State Philharmonic of Sibiu.

Tiberiu Soare has been conducting at the Bucharest National Opera since 2005. Internationally, he has collaborated with numerous prestigious ensembles, including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Kammer Ensemble N (Stockholm), Musica Vitae Chamber Orchestra (Sweden), Osaka Chamber Symphony Orchestra (Japan), Bad Reichenhaller Orchestra (Germany), the "Maria Bieșu" National Opera and Ballet Theater in Chișinău, Sofia Radio Orchestra, Athens Philharmonic Orchestra, "Bedřich Smetana" Philharmonic Orchestra (Zlín, Czech Republic), Prague Radio Orchestra, Camerata Salzburg, Izmir State Symphony Orchestra (Turkey), Korean National Ballet (Seoul, South Korea), and the RTÉ Orchestra (Dublin, Ireland).
