Born in Bucharest, baritone Șerban Vasile studied at the “George Enescu” High School of Arts and subsequently at the National University of Music in Bucharest, where he completed his master’s degree in 2007. In order to refine his technique, he attended masterclasses with bass George Crâșnaru (2006), baritone Eduard Tumagian and soprano Nelly Miricioiu (2009), as well as with conductor Cristian Badea in the same year. In 2010, he continued his training under the guidance of leading figures of the international opera scene, including Alfonso Antoniozzi, Tiziana Fabbricini, Luciana Serra, Mariella Devia, Bruno Moretti, and Stefano Giannini.

Șerban Vasile has received numerous international awards: Second Prize in Spoleto, Italy (2008); Second Prize at the “Masters of the Lyric Art” Competition in Bucharest; the Special “V’Amo” Prize at the “Magda Ianculescu” International Competition; and First Prize at the “Marțian Negrea” International Competition (2009). In 2010, he won First Prize at the “Masters of the Lyric Art” Competition and received a prize at the “ASLICO” Competition in Como, Italy, which led to his participation in the production of La Cenerentola by G. Rossini. He was also a laureate of the “Salice d’Oro” Competition (Italy, 2010), the “Belvedere” Competition (Vienna), and the BBC Cardiff “Singer of the World” Competition (2011).

His repertoire includes such landmark roles as Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor, Figaro in The Barber of Seville, the title role in Oedipus, Caesar in Giulio Cesare in Egitto, Billy Budd, and Dandini in La Cenerentola, performed on stages in Como, Brescia, Ravenna, and Bucharest. More recently, he has appeared in notable roles such as Ford in Falstaff at the Metropolitan Opera in New York and the Dutch National Opera in Amsterdam, Eugene Onegin, Valentin in Faust, Belcore in L’elisir d’amore, Figaro in The Barber of Seville at the National Opera Bucharest, and Wozzeck within the framework of the George Enescu Festival in 2015. In the vocal-symphonic repertoire, he has performed works including Mahler’s Symphony No. 8. Between 2021 and 2023, he collaborated with distinguished conductors such as Riccardo Muti, Carlo Montanaro, Sergio Alapont, and Daniele Callegari.

Since 2022, Șerban Vasile has been a member of the soloist ensemble of the Romanian National Opera in Timișoara, where he continues to perform today.
