Maria Biesu
Veaceslav Burlac

He was born in Chișinău, where he studied at the State Moldavian Dance Conservatory from 1999 to 2007. In school performances, he danced variations from the ballets Flames of Paris, Paquita, and La Sylphide, as well as pas de deux from The Nutcracker, Corsaire, and The Mirthful Carelessness. In 2005 and 2006, he went on tour in Spain with productions of classical ballets such as The Nutcracker, Don Quixote, and Swan Lake (role of the Jester). In 2007/2008, he studied at the Dance Conservatory of the Capital City of Prague and performed in the school production of Sleeping Beauty in the role of the Cavalier and in Twilight choreographed by Libor Vaculík. In 2006, he participated in international competitions in Kyiv, Lviv (2nd place), Odessa (Grand Prix), and Brno. In 2008, he played the role of a Russian soldier in Vladimir Drha’s film English Strawberries. Since 2012, he has been a guest at the German theater in Würzburg, where he performed in the ballet A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Since the 2008/2009 season, he has been a soloist at the State Opera Prague. His major opportunities included roles such as the Jester and Pas de Trois in Swan Lake, the Wedding Couple in Giselle, Camacho in Don Quixote, and the role of Alexei in The Sleeping Beauty – The Last Daughter of the Tsar, for which he received a broader nomination for the Thalia Awards in 2010.

Since the 2012/2013 season, he has been a demi-soloist with the National Theatre Ballet, where he is a mainstay in both classical and modern repertoires (e.g., Jester in Swan Lake, Sailor in Fancy Free, Jura in The Sorcerer's Apprentice, Comedian in Romeo and Juliet, or soloist in Decadance by Ohad Naharin).
