Chiara Salerno


Chiara Salerno, born in Sicily (Italy) in 1995, is a soprano.
She began her musical studies at the age of 7 and obtained her solfeggio diploma at just 12 years old. At 17, she entered the Vincenzo Bellini Conservatory in Catania, where she graduated in piano under the guidance of Maestro Raffaele Terlizzi.
Immediately after completing her piano studies, she began her operatic singing training, initially performing as a member of the Sicilian Lyric Choir (CLS) before pursuing a career as a soloist. In 2021, she graduated in opera singing from the V. Bellini Conservatory in Catania, performing the role of Violetta Valery in La Traviata by G. Verdi. Her training also included an intensive six-month study period in Switzerland at the Haute École de Musique with singer Jeanette Ficher, as well as a masterclass on opera conducted by Maestro Francesco Attardi.

Throughout her career, she has worked with renowned conductors, directors, and set designers such as Henning Brockhaus, Giacomo Callari, Gianluca Marcianò, Grischa Asagaroff, Marco Attura, Michele Pupillo, and Stefano Trespidi.
She has attended lessons and masterclasses with distinguished artists, including Giovanna Collica, Maria Dragoni, Francesca Scaini, Jessica Pratt, Isabel Rey, Barbara Frittoli, Fabiola Herrera, Marcello Giordani, Dario Russo, Carlo Colombara, Corrado Carmelo Caruso, Bernard Tomás, and Rame Lahaj.

Her first major performance took place in 2018 in China, where she performed as Ancella in Turandot, alongside soprano Giovanna Casolla, under the baton of Maestro Francesco Costa, and with tenor Piero Giuliacci as Calaf.
In 2021, she participated as a soloist in the 42nd Antidogma Music Festival.
In 2022, she was a soloist in the Bellini nelle Scuole project, conducted by Maestro Salvo Samperi.
She recorded classical concerts for Sicilian television for the Christmas and New Year celebrations in 2021.
In 2022 and 2023, she performed at the Nazarena Theater in Taormina as part of the Taormina Music and Opera Festival, under the artistic direction of Silvia di Falco.

In 2022, she debuted in the roles of Flora and Annina in La Traviata, under the baton of Michele Pupillo and his Mediterranean Orchestra.
She received the Special Prize from the Friends of Opera Association, awarded by Daniela Javarone, at the 14th International Opera Competition „Magda Olivero”, organized by the Friends of Teatro alla Scala in Milan (December 22-26).
In 2023, she made her debut as a soprano soloist in Petite Messe Solennelle by Gioachino Rossini at the Pérez Galdós Theater in Las Palmas, for the Taller Lírico de Canarias, conducted by Ulrika Tornros.
Her most recent performance was in 2024, where she debuted as Micaëla in Carmen by Bizet at an opera festival in Spain.

In 2024, she won First Prize at the "Ciudad de Albacete" Competition and the Leonor Gago Artist Award for Best Female Performer at the Amigos Ópera Albacete Competition, held at Teatro Circo.
