Maylín Cruz, a Cuban-born soprano, began her musical journey at an early age at the Manuel Muñoz Cedeño Professional School of Arts, where she studied oboe. Her passion for singing led her to the José María Ochoa Conservatory of Music, where she honed her craft and earned her Intermediate Level degree in Music in 2014.

She continued her pursuit of excellence at the prestigious Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA), graduating with honors and receiving the coveted Gold Title in 2019.

During her time as a soloist at the Rodrigo Prats Lyric Theater of Holguín in Cuba, she captivated audiences with her performances in various roles, especially as the Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute. Her talent did not go unnoticed, and in 2019 she was selected to study at the renowned Alfredo Kraus Voice Chair of the Reina Sofía School of Music, where she refined her technique under the guidance of distinguished Masters such as Ryland Davies, Francisco Araiza, and Susan Bullock, earning her Master’s Degree in Musical Performance in 2021.

Maylín’s achievements include the Grand Prize of the 12th National Singing Competition for Young Lyric Singers “Rodrigo Prats”, the Second Prize at the 2nd AMAO International Singing Competition, and her remarkable participation as a finalist in the 39th International Singing Competition Ciudad de Logroño.

Her international career took off in 2021 with her debut in Spain, performing the lead role of Nada Time in the premiere of the contemporary zarzuela Se vende, by acclaimed composers Jesús Rueda, David del Puerto, and Javier Arias. She also stood out in the production of A Song for the Moon, in collaboration with the Dutch National Opera, La Monnaie in Brussels, and the Aix-en-Provence Festival.

She has performed roles such as Lucia in The Rape of Lucretia and appeared in Peter Grimes at the Sony Auditorium in Madrid.

Her recent critically and publicly acclaimed performances include the role of Micaëla in Carmen at the Palau de la Música Catalana, Violetta Valéry in La Traviata at the EDP Gran Vía Theater in Madrid, Gilda in Rigoletto on tour across various Spanish provinces, Musetta in La Bohème at the Coliseum Theater in Madrid, and Nannetta in Falstaff at the Calderón Theater in Valladolid.

Maylín has had the privilege of collaborating with renowned conductors such as Paul Goodwin or Oliver Díaz and stage directors such as Justin Way and Jacopo Spirei, while continuing to refine her art through masterclasses with some of the world’s most distinguished opera Masters.
