Maria Biesu
Ramona Zaharia

Romania

Ramona Zaharia graduated from the "George Enescu" University of Arts, specializing in classical singing, and completed her master's studies at the same university. She debuted in 2012 as Carmen, a role that secured her success in an impressive number of productions on stages in Austria, Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, France, Latvia, and South Korea.

Her repertoire includes roles such as Principessa di Eboli (Don Carlo - Giuseppe Verdi), Fenena (Nabucco - Giuseppe Verdi), Maddalena (Rigoletto - Giuseppe Verdi), Ulrica (Un ballo in maschera - Giuseppe Verdi), Zita (Gianni Schicchi - Giacomo Puccini), Marcellina (Le Nozze di Figaro - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart), Lola (Cavalleria rusticana - Pietro Mascagni), Principessa di Bouillon (Adriana Lecouvreur - Francesco Cilea), and Federica (Luisa Miller - Giuseppe Verdi) - with her debut at the Stuttgart Opera. These roles demonstrate her recent repertoire achievements, confirmed by her 2017 debuts in Richard Wagner's Das Rheingold (Erda), Giuseppe Verdi's Aida (Amneris), and Pietro Mascagni's Cavalleria rusticana (Santuzza).

Ramona Zaharia has been invited to perform at the Latvian National Opera in Riga (Carmen, 2017), Malmö Opera in Sweden in the role of Maddalena from Rigoletto in 2018, and at the Metropolitan Opera in New York in the same Verdi role in 2019. Unfortunately, the interruption of the entire 2020-2021 season at the celebrated New York theater due to the pandemic meant the cancellation of performances of Carmen and a new invitation that would have brought her recognition in the title role.

However, the 2021-2022 season has brought new confirmations on stages in London (Royal Opera House, Covent Garden - Maddalena), Parma (Teatro Regio - Carmen), and Düsseldorf (Deutsche Oper am Rhein - Erda and Carmen).
