Valentina Pluzhnikova


Ukrainian mezzo soprano Valentina Pluzhnikova is an alumna of the prestigious Young Artist Development Program of the Metropolitan Opera and Accademia Teatro alla Scala. Also she was a member of the Opera Academy of the Polish National Theater and Young Singers Project at Salzburg Festival. Recent highlights included Eboli (cover) in Don Carlo at the Opera de Monte-Carlo. In the 23/24 season,Valentina looks forward to her Teatro San Carlo debut as Federica in Luisa Miller. Valentina made her debut at Teatro alla Scala as Tisbe in La Cenerentola . During the seasons 21/22-22/23 she appeared at Teatro alla Scala as Albine in Massenet’s Thaïs , Fidalma in “Il Matrimonio segreto” , Ninetta in “I Vespri Siciliani“, Alisa in Lucia di Lammermoor , third nymph in Rusalka and The fox in The Little Prince by Pierangelo Valtinoni. Previous operatic engagements include her debut in Maurice Ravel’s opera “Child and Enchantment”; (Philadelphia, USA) and Chilea’s opera Adriana Lecouvreur as Dangeville at Salzburg Festival. Concert highlights include performances of Requiem by Duruflé at Philarmonie de Paris, concert at the Prague State Opera and world premiere premiere of the cantata “Daddy’s Book” by Evgeni Orkin in Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels. In 2019, Valentina participated in the Bartok Plus Opera Festival in Hungary where she sung Arthur in the world premiere of the opera “Nora“ by Albine Fires.The same season she made her debut at the Taras Shevchenko National Opera and Ballet Theatre of Ukraine as Siebel in Gounodʼs “Faust“. Valentina holds a Master’s from The Ukrainian National Tchaikovsky Academy of Music . Valentina won the Fifth Prize at the International Tenor Viñas Contest 2019. In the same season, she won second place at the XXIX International Iris Adami Corradetti Competition of Opera Singers in Padua (Italy). In addition, she was a finalist at the 24th International Competition of Opera Singers “Ferruccio Tagliavini”; (Austria) and the III International Eva Marton Competition of Opera Singers in Budapest (Hungary).
