World-renowned conductor Aleksei Baklan graduated from the P. I. Tchaikovsky Kyiv State Conservatory as a pianist under the mentorship of the distinguished musician M. Suka (1985), and as an opera and symphonic conductor under the legendary Ukrainian maestro Stefan Turchak (1987).
Since 1987, he has been a conductor at the Taras Shevchenko National Opera of Ukraine.
From 1995 to 2008, he also served as Principal Conductor of the Kyiv Municipal Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre for Children and Youth, and since 2008, he has been the Artistic Director of this theatre.
As conductor and musical director, he has staged numerous productions at the National Opera of Ukraine, including:

Since 2010, he has also worked with Corella Ballet (Spain).
Under his direction, the symphony orchestra of the Kyiv Municipal Opera has toured in Spain, Portugal, Italy, Croatia, the United Kingdom, South Korea, Japan, and Lebanon. Between 2005 and 2009, Aleksei Baklan annually led winter tours of the ballet company and orchestra throughout the UK. In 2008 and 2009, he conducted symphonic concerts and Opera Gala performances with the soloists and orchestra at London’s Cadogan Hall.
